Layered Art Journal Pages

Dear Wonderful, Creative You:

I thought it would be fun to give you an idea about how to work in a “process oriented” way in your art journal. It’s time we kicked perfectionism to the curb! Let’s focus on finding the joy in making art again. Here’s how I do it:

TIPS FOR LAYERING ART JOURNAL PAGES:

  • Work in stages – it’s okay to just do one layer at a time.
  • Give yourself permission to play – this is for fun after all!
  • Use a high quality watercolor journal that can take various layers of paint in case you don’t love your first go at it.
  • Work slowly and tune in -Notice the sounds, colors, and textures that appear as you create. This will help you feel the joy of making art.

ART JOURNALING SUPPLIES:

You always ask, so here’s all the juicy supplies I used for this page. (With affiliate links.)

Creatively Yours,

Amy

Thank you Amy that was very interesting and lovely just to watch you doing it especially when you slowed it down, I am like you and always like to stand back from my work or even put it upside down both of these were what I was taught when I learned in oil painting in the style of the Masters. . I also had a peek at 21 SECRETS PAPER, GLUE, SCISSORS and it looks really wonderful and I am sure it would. be of great help to me. I have never used mixed media before until I recently discovered you and a couple of other artists whose work I really like and I am a real beginner at this but as I get further down the track I will most certainly have another look at it. I have quite a few lessons to do yet that I have purchased from you and a couple of others as well but I am going to write this down in a little book I write all my lessons in so that I will not forget it.
    Cheers,
    Isabel

Thank you for this lovely process video, I’m very inspired by the idea of starting a page with journaling, then covering it with paint and mindful drawing on top. I love the flowing lines in your work, so soothing and ethereal!
