Drawing from nature is one of the practices that brings me most serenity. Looking deeply at the shapes, colors, and twists and turns of the forms helps me to slow down inside, and also to render nature’s beauty more accurately.

Mindful Drawing
In preparation for the workshop, you’ll collect natural materials that inspire you. You might collect twigs, leaves, shells, feathers, stones, nests, or seed pods. These will be your muses in our drawing sessions. My hope is that you can use these relaxed nature walks to look with curiosity and wonder and see what appears before you.
You’ll need a strong internet connection and basic computer skills to follow the link to our Zoom room. Zoom is an online conferencing service.
Our Day
This is going to be a beautiful afternoon of contemplative drawing, sharing, and diving deeply into the inspiration that nature brings.
This is an ONLINE virtual retreat. You’ll participate from the comfort of your own home on a private internet link. You’ll join up to 14 other participants in a private Zoom “room” where we can talk face to face, giggle about our “wonky” drawings, and get real time feedback, just like a live retreat.
As part of this online retreat, you will:
- Look with curiosity and wonder at nature’s beauty
- Practice blind contour drawing – or “wonky drawing”
- Use color and text to fully develop your drawings into journal pages
- Write to make meaning of your experiences
- Embrace the beauty of imperfection in a supportive live community

This should be a really delicious, meaningful day for slowing down, connecting, and savoring nature’s beauty.
Our Mindful Drawing Retreat Includes:
A 6 hour live retreat with Amy and the rest of the class
A Mindful Drawing e-book

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need prior art or drawing experience to participate?
No, whether you’ve never drawn before, or you are an experienced artist, this day-long retreat is structured to provide you the space to learn to see in new ways, and opportunities to translate those new visions onto your journal pages.
Are the materials provided?
You will provide your own materials. Our goal is to take advantage of the simplicity of only using pen and watercolor to focus on nature’s beauty and the mindful process.
Will we have any breaks during the workshop?
Yes, we will have a snack break around 3pm EST where we will relax for about 20 or so minutes. This is a time to get to know folks in the class more, talk, laugh, and refresh before the next section of the workshop. Throughout the rest of our day, we will have 2 other planned breaks. You are encouraged to take care of yourself and your needs though, even outside of those times.
Is there an in person version of this retreat?
Yes! I am hosting the same retreat in Seekonk, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 18th. Click here to learn more.
What kind of internet connection do I need?
You’ll need a strong internet connection and the camera and microphone that are built into your device. You may also want headphones to help reduce noise.
